Seiko - the amazing force behind Gelatine
Seiko's previous band was the legendary all female group 10 Yen Anakinoko.
Gelatine's awesome 5 song demo. I bought two of them after catching one of their early shows at Meow Mix. I never dreamed that some day I'd be asked to join the band. Luckily, I had listened to their demo so much I had already practically memorized the songs. Since the release of this demo, Gelatine's songs have actually become crazier and more complex. In my opinion, Seiko, who writes all the songs, is a genius and is perhaps my all time favorite female singer. To watch her perform is to be in awe. She also creates the very cool, dark and mysterious artwork for Gelatine.
Seiko made this headband for me to wear at the Knitting Factory show. It reads "Al - coholic," which I thought was pretty funny. So instead of being Al Batross that evening I was Al Coholic (which I guess is better than being Al Qaeda, Al K. Seltzer or Al Truistic). At a number of subsequent performances I played a character from the Japanese Manga "Fist of the North Star" at Seiko's request.
